The Guest of Honor

Imagine receiving a formal invitation in the mail, made out of the most expensive damask paper. As there is no return address, your curiosity begins to simmer as you carefully break the waxed seal and open it for further inspection. While your hands explore the lavish request, the embossed words printed on the page draw your undivided attention as they are written as follows:

You are cordially invited to attend a glorious event.

This gala will be celebrating an amazing Guest of Honor.

An honoree who has endured much in life.

She’s been on a first name basis with denial, loneliness, rejection and depression, but overcame through the healing Word of God.

This champion has survived embarrassing hurts, devastating breakups, bad decisions, lost jobs, career disappointments, and town gossipers who, “Just call to see how you are doing?”

By God’s grace, she kept her head up and overcame being mocked, made fun of, unjustly accused, as well as, rejected by fake friends and selfish lovers.

After reading the elaborate invitation, have you guessed yet who the Guest of Honor is? If not, here’s a clue. King David wrote most of the Book of Psalm during one of the most painful periods of his life.  And yet, he knew the Lord would never leave nor forsake him.  This is why he writes, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me,” Psalm 23:4 NIV.

Ultimately, David knew that trouble doesn’t last always and that the Lord would deliver him out of his circumstance.  As a result, he declares of the Lord by faith in Psalm 23:5, “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:  Thou anointed my head with oil; my cup runneth over.”

No matter what you are going through today, Beloved, just know that our Heavenly Father is our Eternal Event Planner.  Thus, He is simply preparing your table of celebration!  In His appointed time, He will anoint you with the oil of His favor.  Lastly, He will introduce you as the Guest of Honor at your own Feast of Deliverance. So, dear sister, be comforted in knowing that your royal coronation won’t just occur in the company of those who love you.  It will also be in the presence of those who have mocked, denied, rejected, and hurt you as well!
