Are You Swimming In A Dry Pool?

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately since we celebrated a New Year five days ago. One of the many things I’d like to increase in this year is my faith; as well as, the “works” that must accompany it. Many of us are familiar with the passage of James 2:17 KJV which says, “Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” That’s when it hit me! Faith with no action is a bit like swimming in an empty pool.

Just think about it.  The only place you can access inside an empty pool is the bottom. However, fill that same area up with water and we have a different scenario. Water allows us to rise from the depth. Isn’t that what faith does? It lifts us up from our everyday circumstances.  As a result, giving us hope for a better today and tomorrow.  On the other hand, if we don’t perform any works (or take action), we simply sink back down, inevitably, not going anywhere.

How do you plan to navigate your Pool of Life during the remaining days of this New Year? Would you like a new body, better relationships with loved ones, less debt, save a significant amount of money, start a new business, etc.?

No matter which question you may choose to tackle, dear heart, each one requires at least some form of effort. James 2:24 KJV tells us, “Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.” In other words, what we do determines what we achieve, not just our faith. It goes without saying that before we do anything though, we should first seek direction from God. This is the only way to ensure our actions are “justified or successful.

Whatever you may want to achieve in 2015, Beloved, let’s remember not to swim in an empty pool! We need faith to rise from the bottom of our current circumstances. Even more so, we must do the necessary work needed to reach (or swim towards) our goals. All the while, moving towards our future success under the loving guidance of our Eternal Father.
