The Winning Team

Yesterday, millions of people watched the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks play in the NFL Super Bowl XLIX. Nevertheless, today’s post is not about manmade teams but a spiritual one. Whether we are believers or not, each of us will face many forms of opposition created by the enemy throughout our life. A number of them may be “dark principalities in high places.” Whereas, others may be simple things that affect us most. For instance, in the last three weeks I have been overwhelmed with stressful projects. So, I confess that this message is a way to encourage myself as well as you.

In order to follow a winning game plan, we must understand that satan’s goal is to distract, damage or destroy God’s Plan for our life. Maybe your distraction is an addiction to TV shows, which take precious time away from a business our Eternal Father has given you a vision to start. Perhaps, there is an association that you have with someone that damages your relationship with God. There may even be strongholds that could potentially destroy us such as gambling, drugs, etc. In essence, the devil will always try to make us feel like we are on the losing or weakest team. Praise God…this is a lie from the pit of hell!

Whether we are sports fans or not, Beloved, there is a team captain who is incapable of losing a battle. It is none other than our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Isaiah 9:6 NIV says, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Whether our struggle consists of mounting debts, a controlling supervisor, or an unexpected end to a long-term relationship, we cannot fail with God!

All in all, let’s remember that Jesus is the only teammate we will ever need in order to be true champions. For there is no rival or situation in this world that He cannot defeat!
