Repost- “A Rest of Time”

A Rest of Time

No woman ever chooses to look rundown or worn out. And yet, many of us suffer with bags under our eyes, dark circles and other signs of premature aging.   This is why foundations and concealers are such hot commodities for today’s makeup industry.  It is estimated that women in the U.S. alone, spend over 7 billion each year on beauty products.  Celebrity endorsements also help influence the sale of these “must-have” items.

Amazingly though, most of our beauty woes can be treated, and often resolved, by incorporating four basic steps into our daily routine:

  • Drinking 6 to 8 glasses of water
  • Eating a well-balanced diet
  • Completing 30 minutes of exercise three to four times a week and,
  • Proper Rest

Above all, a commitment to proper rest is one of the most important. I can certainly confess to struggling with sleep deprivation through out my life. Dr. Oz recently reported, Proper sleep is essential for healthy skin. When you sleep, your body repairs and renews itself. That process goes on at the cellular level in your skin. Missing sleep for one night might not be a big deal, but chronic sleep deprivation is bad for your health (skin).”According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, about 40 million people in the United States suffer from chronic long-term sleep disorders each year.” But, why is getting enough sleep so difficult at times? Sometimes, mental stress created by family, social and/or work pressures can contribute to not sleeping. In addition, inconsistencies in sleep patterns can also affect us.

Whatever the case, we women simply need our rest in order to look and feel healthy. Even the Lord supports a day of rest as He made the Sabbath as part of The Ten Commandments. Ultimately, the Word of God is essential to renew our minds and sleep is crucial to our bodies. The good news is that regardless of what our schedules look right now, we can achieve more rest! If we diligently seek our Heavenly Father and completely give our worries and stress over to Him, we will become more restful and peaceful. By now, everyone’s heard the term, “Let Go, Let God!”

As we embark on our goals for this year, let’s don’t forget the significance of scheduling time to rest. It is not only detrimental to our face, but also peace of mind and body’s rejuvenation.Beloved, know that you can rest in the presence of our Lord. He is one who never sleeps nor slumbers.   1 Peter 5:6-7 NIV says, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” In Matthew 11:28-30 NIV, God promises us, “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” No matter what our calendar of time looks like this year, we must make it a goal to schedule a “Rest of Time” each day. We can also relax by mediating on the blessings and Word of God. Before long, you’ll be sleeping peacefully each night, nestled and secure in the presence of our Almighty Father. Without a care, or premature wrinkle, in the world!
